Well worth your attention. A great phone

I decided to try this phone after researching “best moderately priced phones” and finding it rated higher than a lot of the companies I expected to see. It has taken a little while to adjust to a new Pixel after years of owning Motorola phones, but now I love this phone. The photos are so much better than with previous phones, the images on the phone screen are top rate, and the functions (once learned) work as expected. It is a great size for slipping into purse and pocket, charges a little faster than Google reports, and holds a charge two days for me, but I’m not a heavy phone user (calls, texts, searches and photos. I don’t use the phone for games). And the price is right! I don’t need top of the line, but I want really good and solid. I chose this phone because Google offers longer support than the “leading” phone makers and I plan to keep it a long time. Sound quality is great, it feels good in hand, and it looks good. The only downside I have found is lack of many high durability cases for it although one company on Amazon offers one that I’m using. It and the phone have survived one drop in fine style. I will update if that information changes. If you are unsure about a Pixel, do yourself a favor and try it. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

A great way to move away from iPhone

Since the 2012 I’ve only used iPhones. Back then Android was pretty rough – very functional, but not a pleasure to use in my opinion. But recently Apple started sneaking ads for their stupid movies into their wallet app. A straw too far, as far as I’m concerned. And I’m tired of their constant and excessive advertising of their services.Pros:• Long term (7 YEARS!) of fast arriving system updates. No other Android device comes close to the Pixel series in this regard.• Great battery life! I’m a pretty moderate user so I generally only charge every two days once it hits around 40% remaining.• Like every modern Pixel device, this can be operated on a flat surface without wobbling around. Unlike the rest, this has no camera visor, just a pair of small and flat lenses on the back. Quality seems pretty great so far though.• Completely unlocked, including bootloader, so I can easily switch to other flavors of Android if I so desire. I like options!• Fingerprint reader and Face Unlock work well. Worth noting that this is not an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner so it doesn’t perform quite as well in direct sunlight or with a screen protector installed.• The price on this is really great for what you get. Comparing this to Apple’s most closely priced device (the 16e at time of writing) makes that phone look even more like the bad joke that it is.Cons:• Entirely subjective, but I don’t love that they made it so similarly shaped to a modern iPhone’s body shape and size – flat edges and flat screen. I just prefer a rounded edge experience for hand feel. It would be better if it were a bit smaller, but that is sadly not the world we live in anymore. I’ve since been trying out older Pixel series devices and will likely end up on an 8 as it is just SO much more comfortable to hold and use.So, if you are considering leaving Apple’s walled garden, I would say this is a great place to start! Don’t be intimidated by the switch – it has been extremely smooth and Android is now not only more feature rich than iOS but also more user friendly.

Best phone I’ve had in years.

This is by far the best phone I’ve had in years. I was going with the cheaper Motorolas, but I had to upgrade almost every year or 2 to handle multiple tasks at once (no shade at Motorola; they are affordable). But I had some extra money and got this phone; it’s fast even under heavy load from multiple apps. Google has a ton of awesome features added to it. I won’t sit here and name them all, but they make things a lot more streamlined and make it easier to use the phone. The battery will last me all day with no problem; usually it also has a neat smart charging option on the phone as well. The camera on this phone has great picture quality; the editing options it has for photos are also a really nice plus. It has a nice slim design; I wish they had more color options, but I have a case on it anyways. Overall I think this is a really nice phone, and I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a new phone.

User friendly, easy to customize and very afforable!

So few things, I would give the phone itself 5 stars and I HIGHLY recommend it; so I will start by saying I gave the item a 4 star purely because of the inaccuracy of the product I received. I ordered the 126gb peony colored Google Pixel 9a. I received a 256gb lilac Google Pixel 9a. So my 1 star take away is purely because they sent me the wrong color/gb size. Nevertheless I kept it only because I at least get more storage now for the price of 128, but I am a pink girl through and through so I will have only pink phone cases i guess lol.Phone itself review: I am a 27 year old female and I have been die hard samsung since my first phone. I would never do iphone, and quite a few years ago I took a chance on the google pixel 5. I despised it so much that within days I returned it and ordered a new samsung. Fast forward and I talk to tech friends and do my research with reviews and chose this pixel to give google another try. It was the best decision!! the new pixels without the back button are so much more user friendly, and the transition from samsung to google was really easy. I love everything about the phone, even the small things like how cute I can customize. Granted you still only have the play store, and so I lost out on the good samsung galaxy store themes, but I have found better ones with apps that use ads, so not a big deal! The camera is good, the battery is phenomenal, and I missed the google adaptive charging feature. All in all a great price for a quality phone I really can’t complain and I love it!

    Great phone, great value

For five years I enjoyed my Pixel 4a, a compact 128 GB 4G phone. However, I recently destroyed it when I unintentionally took it for a swim in the ocean, so it was time for an upgrade. I first considered the 8a, but when I saw the low cost of Google’s newest phone, the absence of an annoying camera bar on the back, and the many rave reviews on YouTube, I was sold on the 9a. It delivers remarkable performance without most of the trade-offs that come with midrange phones. This isn’t a flagship, nor with only 8 GB of RAM is it intended for intensive gamers, but it does everything I need and does it well. And Google automatically reloaded every one of my apps, files, and settings from the cloud! The Pixel 9a checks all the boxes: an unlocked, modestly sized 5G device with a clean, simple design in four available colors. It includes the AI assistant Gemini and the newest Google apps and operating system (Android 15) with seven years of system and security updates, as well as the same fast Tensor G4 chipset and bright, sharp, smooth 120 Hz display featured on the model 9. The 9a is equipped with outstanding cameras and camera software and a best-in-class battery (even better than the 9 Pro) for extra-long life. The unit offers strong resistance to water, dust, and scratches, in addition to wireless charging and oodles of storage. All this at an unbeatable price! The 256 GB version I bought came with a $100 Amazon gift card, effectively reducing its price to $499, the same as the 128 GB model.I do have three caveats: the bezel on the screen seems unnecessarily thick, wireless charging is much slower than wired charging, and there is noticeable grain in low-light videos, but none of these are deal-breakers for me. And I must respond to a previous reviewer who also owned a 4a and claimed that the 9a is too big, that it’s design is unoriginal, and that it lacks a headphone jack and a behind-the-screen fingerprint reader. While not as small or light as my old Pixel, it’s only slightly larger and heavier (allowing for a bigger battery), and it fits my hand perfectly. As for the headphone jack and fingerprint reader, we’re in the third decade of the 20th century: wired headphones are history and on-screen fingerprint readers are standard. Finally, for many users like me, the minimalist design is a plus: less is more!

Surprisingly Powerful Mid-Range Phone with AI Edge

I recently upgraded to the Pixel 9a, and overall, it has been a great experience.Camera – The camera is impressive for its price range. Photos come out sharp with natural colors, and low-light shots are surprisingly good.Performance – Daily performance is smooth. Apps load quickly, multitasking works without lag, and gaming is handled decently.Lightweight Design – The phone feels light in hand, making it comfortable for long usage without strain.Call Screen Feature – One of my favorite features! It filters spam calls effectively and feels like having a personal assistant handle unknown numbers.Gemini AI – The built-in AI features make it smarter and more productive, from summaries to helpful suggestions.Overall – A solid device with reliable software updates and the clean Pixel experience. If you want a well-balanced phone with great features at a good price, the Pixel 9a is worth it. I’d give it 4.5 stars—just shy of perfect, but definitely impressive.

    Google phone for teens

Great phone for our teen. The camera quality is fabulous, the phone is fast and charges quickly. It doesn’t seem to get hot when in use (which his last phone did). It is sleek and light and a wonderful phone.

Nice phone but could use some changes

This was a forced replacement because my last phone had multicolored vertical lines. Otherwise I would have kept it. It was functional for me.This is a nice phone with a considerable amount of customization. It is snappy but it’s still new. I will see how it is in a couple of years. This could be an easy 5 star for me with a few changed. Google, along with other manufacturers, has decided you can’t use expansion micro Sd cards. Instead, they rock you for upgraded memory. I actually prefer to store things on a card and be able to switch them to a different phone quickly. I had a lot of pictures and music that I had to buy extra built in storage that was not really necessary. If there is a way to cast to a Roku, I haven’t found it. That was a nice feature on the Samsung. I saw a YouTube video that showed a guy trying to get the battery out of a Google Pixel. He claims it’s almost impossible without destroying the battery or having it blow up. It’s doubtful you will get 7 years out of a battery to match the systems updates. This should be changed so it would be easier to possibly get the suggested use that is advertised. My last phone was a Samsung. It would take an SD card 2 years ago but the upgrade would not. The Google screening of calls seems to work well. I like that I only see spam was blocked and the phone doesn’t ring but if they talk during screening I get a transcript. I like being able to control things from the Lock Screen. I haven’t tried the camera yet as I don’t use the camera a lot.The phone updated quickly using my old phone and it connected quickly to Boost Mobile as an unlocked phone. I could easily do everything but the customization takes forever as you find things. YouTube is an interesting place to find suggestions.

    Back to Pixel from S24

After about a 10 month break with a Samsung Galaxy S24, I am back to the Pixel and happy with this 9a. I am a fan of “small” phones and this one is certainly about as large as I would like but it does have good ergonomics. My wife and I have used Pixel devices since the 3 but last fall I decided to try Samsung again and picked up a flagship S24. I really liked the size and that phone did have a very premium, sturdy feel but I like to use my phones without a case as much as possible and the Samsung was like holding a wet bar of soap. This Pixel 9a is not a lot better but it is certainly an improvement. I was really drawn to the S24 because of the range of customization and personalization with that UI which was really fun and cool but it loses its luster pretty quickly. I was also expecting a major performance increase but honestly, my S24 was pretty buggy and even sluggish at times and I am only a casual user (no gaming, multitasking, etc). But the thing that finally did it for me was the camera. The Pixel cameras are the main reason we stick with them. They just can’t be beat. The S24 camera is OK for certain photography but when it comes to shooting people and pets, it was absolutely horrendous compared to Pixel. I have a young family and that is my main use of the camera, capturing family photos and videos. The pictures you get without ANY editing out of Pixel phones is jawdropping and has been that way for years. Another reason I left my Pixel 7a was the screen brightness and battery life. I could barely see my screen outside and the battery life was not great. So far, this 9a has completely solved that problem. This phone gets super bright outside once you turn off adaptive brightness, which is a setting I never use on any phone; I always rock max brightness and manually control it in dark situations. Adaptive brightness on this 9a keeps the screen VERY dim even outside in the sun for some reason so just turn it off, no big deal. The battery life so far is very impressive, we will see how that looks a year from now and I believe this is a glued in battery which means difficult to impossible battery replacement. Not a big deal for me because I usually just get a new phone every 2 or so years. It is strange but I really like the thicker screen bezels on this phone. My S24 had basically non-existent bezels and it made swiping from off the screen difficult and I would accidentally touch things on the screen constantly just holding my phone. I know people really hate on bezels but I am so glad they are here on this 9a!Another controversial part is the camera layout which I think LOOKS AMAZING!! I don’t know if people are just sheep and fanboys about the “visor” on the 9 and 9 Pro but who wants a giant island sticking out of the back of their phone like that?!? I mean it looks OK and is necessary I am sure to fit all the fancier camera stuff, but this low profile back on the 9a looks AMAZING to me. And I can lay my phone down on my desk and it actually lays flat! What is not to like so far? The fingerprint sensor is definitely better than the one on my old 7a but NOWHERE CLOSE to the S24 I came from. Samsung’s sensor works EVERY time even when my finger is very wet. Maybe it is actually too good and a security issue I don’t know but the 9a’s sensor is certainly not as good. It is much slower and just flat out won’t recognize 4 or 5 times in a row and make me enter my PIN instead. I am not using a screen protector, my screen is perfectly clean as well as my thumb, I have readded my print multiple times getting as many different areas of it as possible and still, same results. I will say it is better than my old 7a which I literally had to deactivate and only use PIN it was so unreliable. My score:Display: 9 out of 10Battery: 10 out of 10 (so far)Customization: 6 out of 10Ergonomics: 9 out of 10Brightness: 10 out of 10Software: 9 out of 10Processor: 9 out of 10Fingerprint Sensor: 5 out of 10Features: 9 out of 10Value: 15 out of 10 – The fact that this phone costs $499 not on sale makes no sense at all. It is so close to the specs of the 9 and even the 9 Pro it is insane. I would bet if you put the 9a and the 9 Pro next to each other, most non phone-nerds would have difficulty figuring out which one was twice the price and why. This is the best value in smartphones 100%

Love it! Love going back to the pure Android platform

Love it! Love going back to the pure Android platform with out all of the bloat software that cam with the Samsung phone I last bought bought. I have been a Motorola phone user for like ever and loved them however when I needed a new phone for my hearing aid and glucose monitor Motorola didn’t have one compatable with both thus ended up trying the popular Samsung phone… well I hated it with them trying stuff their software and Samsung apps down my throat so I started a long search for my next new phone thus landing on this one. I like the pure original Android system familiar Android/Google apps I loved from my Motorola phones and I actually love this one better than the Motorola’s I have had for many years. Now that all being said this phone is amazing from thee long battery life, size, feel, clarity, speed and all of the incredible features from the pure Android/Google system make me rate this the Best Phone I have ever had! I loved this phone so much I ordered another one for my wife who is so locked on her 10 year old Motorola because of familiarity and she loved too! The set up was incredibly simple, It was fully unlocked followed the on screen instructions and in a few minutes our cell phone provider set up was complete using the e-sim transfer and all of our photos, settings were completely transferred over for a seamless transition, it was the easiest transition I have ever had for a new phone. My wife loves the weight and how it easily fits in her purse and or pocket and no learning curve of a new system/manufacturer with the pure no bloat Android system. I am happy with my purchase and I would buy it again!
